    AREAS OF PRACTICE

    Creating Japanese translations of technical documents and publications required for ongoing European, German
    and International patent prosecution, opposition proceedings and appeal hearings before the European Patent
    Office, German Patent Office, and U.S. Patent & Trademark Office; interpreter activities for the benefit of our    
    Japanese clients.

    TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

    Biotechnology, pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, neurosciences, neurodegenerative
    diseases, metabolic and food chemistry, agricultural chemistry, pulmonology, gene therapy techniques and
    genetics.

    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

    Dr. Yamamoto received an MSc degree from the Division of Health Sciences, Tokyo University Graduate School  
    of Medicine and Laboratory of Genome Structure Analysis, Human Genome  Center, Institute of Medical       
    Science (Tokyo, Japan), where her she conducted studies of a unique gene associated with early-onset familial
    Alzheimer’s disease. She then continued her research at this same institution, and earned a PhD in the field of
    molecular cell biology under the supervision of Professor Yoshiyuki Sakaki. Dr. Yamamoto has held several       
    post-doctoral appointments, including a Fellowship at the Independent Research Group Neurodegeneration,      
    Max-Planck-Institute of Psychiatry (Munich, Germany), a Fellowship at the Laboratory for Alzheimer’s Disease
    and Parkinson’s Disease, Department of Biochemistry, Adolf-Butenandt-Institute, Ludwig-Maximilians-
    Universität (Munich, Germany) and a Fellowship at the Department  of Pediatrics, Ludwig-Maximilians-  
    Universität (Munich, Germany).  Dr. Yamamoto has also conducted research as a Visiting Scientist at the        
    RIKEN Brain Science Institute (BSI) (Saitama, Japan).  Dr. Yamamoto has also worked in the patent group of a
    private practice firm in Munich  as a trainee towards the European Patent Attorney qualification, where she    
    gained practical knowledge and experience regarding European patent granting procedures.
